By Samantha Gaughan, Employee Experience Lead at Connect Three
At Connect Three, we’re all about growth – not just for our clients, but for our people too. Over the last year, we’ve taken some significant steps to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. So, when we were not only recognised as one of the Great Places to Work in the Top 50 SME list for 2025, but then a finalist for Inspiring Workplaces UK + Ireland Top 50 too it not only felt like a huge accomplishment – but also a reflection of the hard work we’ve put into making Connect Three the best place it can be.
As Employee Experience Lead, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of initiatives that have directly impacted our company culture, and I’d love to share a bit about the journey we’ve taken to reach this milestone.
Step 1: Introducing Career Development Planning for Everyone
One of the most impactful changes we’ve made over the past year has been the introduction of career development planning for every single person in the business. From our newest recruits to our senior leadership team, every employee now has a tailored development plan that aligns with their aspirations and our business goals.
We want to make sure our team is not only challenged and motivated but also given the tools, support, and opportunities to grow in the direction they want. It’s about more than just career progression – it’s about investing in our people and helping them realize their full potential. And this commitment to development has had a profound effect on morale, engagement, and retention.
Step 2: Review and Renewal of People Policies
We’ve also done a deep dive into our people policies, taking a fresh look at how we can better support our team. We understand that an evolving workplace requires policies that are not just reactive, but proactive. That means ensuring our policies reflect the realities of modern working life, with a focus on flexibility, inclusion, and fairness.
One of the biggest successes has been our ability to introduce more tailored policies that allow our people to manage work and life in a way that suits their individual circumstances. This is an ongoing journey, but the renewal of these policies has been a huge step forward in ensuring that our team feels heard and supported.
Step 3: Becoming a Menopause and Menstruation-Friendly Workplace
At Connect Three, we believe in creating a workplace where everyone can bring their full selves to work, which is why we’ve also focused on becoming a menopause and menstruation-friendly workplace.
This initiative started with open conversations and a deep commitment to breaking the stigma around these often-overlooked areas of employee health and well-being. We’ve implemented training, resources, and clear support systems for those who experience menopause or menstruation-related challenges. By normalizing these conversations, we’re ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and supported in their health journey.
Step 4: Winning the Inspiring Employee Culture Award at the Top Employer Awards 2024
Another proud moment for us was winning the Inspiring Employee Culture Award at the Top Employer Awards 2024. This award is a testament to the hard work we’ve put into building a culture that is not just inclusive, but inspiring – a place where creativity, collaboration, and mutual respect are at the heart of everything we do.
The recognition wasn’t just about the award itself; it was a moment for us to reflect on how far we’ve come in creating a supportive environment for our people. The passion and enthusiasm our team brings to work each day is something that drives our success – and this award serves as a reminder that we’re on the right path.
Looking Ahead
Being recognized as a Great Place to Work is an incredible honour, but it’s only the beginning for us. Our journey doesn’t stop here. We’re committed to continually evolving and improving to ensure that Connect Three remains a place where everyone can thrive – both personally and professionally.
We’re excited about what’s to come and grateful to our team for their dedication and hard work in helping us achieve this milestone. Here’s to even more growth, innovation, and a workplace that truly reflects our values of trust, respect, and continuous improvement.
