Tennent’s

Who they are

Tennent’s is part of C&C Group and operates across brewing, manufacturing, logistics, commercial and corporate functions within a complex, multi-site organisation.

The challenge

Tennent’s wanted to strengthen management capability across the business.

Managers were leading different teams, functions and operational environments, but the organisation wanted greater consistency in how people were managed, communicated with and supported.

The aim was to build confident managers who could lead high-performing teams, improve collaboration, embed organisational values and translate good management practice into everyday performance.

“Connect Three worked closely with our leadership team to design and deliver a management development programme that was practical, relevant and genuinely impactful in a complex operational setting. The programme strengthened management capability, improved communication and collaboration, and created greater consistency across our teams.”

The solution

Connect Three worked with Tennent’s leadership team to design a practical management development journey around the realities managers faced at work.

The programme combined eight workshops with Insights Discovery, individual coaching, workplace application and peer learning.

Managers explored areas including communication and influencing, coaching for performance, personal impact, resilience, change, team effectiveness and commercial awareness.

Learning was deliberately spaced over several months, giving managers time to try new approaches, reflect on what worked and bring real challenges back into the room.

Cross-functional learning was also an important part of the experience, creating stronger connections between managers across brewery, logistics, commercial and support teams.

The impact

Managers reported a 30% increase in confidence, with median confidence scores rising from 3.26 to 4.25 out of 5.

88% of participants were able to apply their learning in practice, with communication, confidence and collaboration among the strongest areas of improvement.

Participants used Insights Discovery to adapt how they communicated, coaching techniques to approach performance conversations with greater confidence and practical tools to manage priorities and improve productivity.

The wider impact was greater consistency in how managers approached communication, delegation and feedback, alongside stronger relationships across different parts of the business.
